The Ugly Corporate Ladder

Before you read this post, please note my definition of MIDDLE MANAGEMENT : Middle Management in my opinion is anyone between the Ultimate Management (that is the owner(s) of the business) and the Ultimate Workers (that is all the ground level workers who do not have anyone report to them.)

I worked in Corporate environments for nearly 20 years and yet I am still not able to get used to its ugliness. I detest any Middle Management who would only care for themselves, not the company neither their subordinates nor their peer.

How many of these people did I meet over the past 20 years? Uncountable is the only word I have!

The middle management has the easier task compared to both the top management and the lower level blue collar workers. The blue collar workers worked their ass out to earn a miserable income whereas the top management (if they are really a good top manager) will need to constantly work on their grey matters to steer the company towards a direction.

What then does the middle management do?

They take instruction, digest it, pass it down and then manage the workers to deliver the result required.

No sweat needed, no brain cells required….and yet so many of them cannot do such a simple job well.

Why is it so difficult to be a good middle management? All they need to do is CARE for others, but they only care for themselves which is where the problem is.

Those who are not a good middle manager are simply people who fall into ONE category : A selfish individual trying to earn an income by taking the company and his subordinates for a ride!

Just observe and you will find them everywhere……….sadly!
